Renesmee Cullen

In Dancing With The Devil, Renesmee is legally ten years old, however her advance mental and physical growth place her closer to 17 or 18. She is described as having Edward's face, Bella's eyes, and Charlies curly hair with Edward's bronze tint. Since she was the narrator of my story, I immediately went to work finding the perfect person for her. I knew I needed someone who could pass for Robert Pattison's sister/daughter/relative/whatever. I came across the first picture of Keira Knightley and was astounded by how much she really does look like him.

Here is a picture of Rob:

So not only is this picture slightly reminsicent of the cover of "Twilight," but she looks just like him. Anyway, I felt as though they could be siblings, and therefore father/daughter.

As I was writing, Ness immediately emerged as a strong willed character. She doesn't need your attitude, she's got one of her own. She puts up with nothing from anyone, yet she is not forceful or unnecessarily vicious. She starts the story as a mixed up, confused, typical teenager. She's still trying to find her place in the world, and just now starting to feel comfortable in her own skin. Soon after the story starts, she and Jake take their relationship to the next level, and she realizes the extent of this power called "imprinting."

As much as she knows she should be with Jake, she can't help but feel this immense attraction to Robert Knox, a boy she met at college. It's as if she's known him before, been with him before, and perhaps, loved him before. This intrigue with Robert brings her head to head with the truth of who she was, is and always will be.

In my story, Ness takes on a giant character arc. As I mentioned, she starts out so innocent, knowing really nothing of the world. As events begin to unfold, she starts to gain a much deeper understanding than she ever thought possible. She is forced to accept the unimaginable.

The debate over Reason vs. Faith affects her most of all. Was her entire story written for her at birth? Was history always destined to repeat itself? Or is she really in control of her own life? Does she always have a choice?
